Overview
The Hollywood Boosters organization was formed in April, 1934 with 52 charter
members. The Boosters is a non-profit business/service association and is one of
Portland's oldest active merchant groups.
Membership in the Hollywood Boosters is open to owners and managers of
businesses located in the Hollywood district, property owners, or other
individuals or organizations having an interest in Hollywood. Currently, there
are over one hundred active members.
The Hollywood Boosters hold monthly general membership meetings on the first
Wednesday of each month, at noon in the Hollywood area. There are also monthly
meetings of the Boosters Board of Directors, the General Board and Executive
Board.
The Boosters general membership meetings include announcements, committee
reports, keynote speakers, and luncheon. Speakers discuss timely business and
community issues of interest to Boosters members.
The Boosters are organized into committees, with various committees
carrying out specific assignments. A part-time staff person, the executive
secretary, handles communications for the Hollywood Boosters and responds to
members' requests.
Hollywood Boosters also are active in providing a community voice in
government decision making that affect Hollywood, and Boosters leaders are
well known at Portland City Hall and among elected officials.
